Jim Tashjian was raised
in a household of music enthusiasts. Some of his earliest musical
memories include his father singing obscenely loud (and frankly, out of
place) harmonies over Beatles songs while driving in the car. He began
to play around with the family piano as a child and soon began taking
piano lessons, which sparked and interest in the electric bass, which
led to bass lessons. Electric bass lessons soon sparked an interest in
the electric guitar, which quickly developed into a fascination with
the guitar that has lasted nearly 12 years. He has tried his hands at a
wide range of musical styles, from jazz and classical music to
progressive heavy metal, or from indy rock to indian classical music.
He received a bachelor of music degree from the Chicago College of
Performing Arts in 2009. He lives in Chicago, and currently plays with
a variety of musical projects there, including his own acoustic quartet
(acoustic guitar, bass, percussion, and voice), of which he is the
primary composer.
