grew up in the Chicago suburb of Elmhurst. He first got into music by
playing percussion in the school band starting at age 8. At the same
time as studying classical Percussion, Martin found his passion for
rock music. He began to play drumset along with classic albums from the
Beatles. Then came The Who, Led Zeppelin, then Emerson Lake and Palmer.

connection to the instrument. Shortly after, he started playing bass in
a rock band with his friends. While attending York Community High
School Martin started playing upright bass, playing in rock bands, and
studying with Chicago jazz Bassist Ken Haebich. After receiving the
Louis Armstrong Jazz Award, and the Paulus Music award/Scholarship, he
deiced to attend the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt
University.

got serious about jazz and upright bass. At Roosevelt, Martin was able
to study and work with Scott Mason, Rob Amster, Rob Parton, Jim
Gallereto, Paul Mertens, John Mclean, Paulinho Garcia, and Paul
Wertico.
After
Graduating in May of 2009, Martin has been establishing himself as
